National Coal Mining Museum For England

The design, build and installation of a new Social History Gallery in the Museum’s main visitor centre featured three themed display areas representing the history of coalmining throughout England. An unusual mix of artefacts from the museum’s collection as well as mining vehicles and equipment, audio visual material, interactive plasma screens, documentary film footage and strong graphics were incorporated.

The installation involved liaison with the architects and the project manager, Gleeson's, curators and historians. The design covered 5 different galleries, an under 5's interactive play area, an extensive multimedia experience and a number of computer interactive zones.
