Museum of East Anglian Life

The Museum of East Anglian Life (MEAL) is more than just a museum – it plays a prominent and vital role in the community. MEAL has recently been awarded £1.71 million from HLF to develop the site in two phases and open up large areas of the estate to the public for the first time. Bright 3D have been selected to re-develop the Abbot’s Hall and turn it into a real focal point for the Museum. When visitors enter the house we aim to provoke a sense of curiosity. Each room in the house will provide the visitors with a different experience – both in it’s overall impression and the detail which the visitors will uncover. The interpretation will be delivered in a wide range of medium and in many cases will be subtly integrated into the room interiors. Audio will be used exetnsively, both as primary interpretation and background ambient sound, and is designed to bring the house to life even on quiet days. Flexibility is also key – the exhibiton will be layed out to allow for functions and for future developments of the exhibitons. The development of Abbots Hall is due for completion in 2012.
