Brecon Beacons

Bright 3D have worked with the team at the Brecon Beacons National Park to transform the space from a basic information centre into an exciting and educational visitor centre which acts as a hub for tourists who want to explore the local area as well as catering for educational visits from both children and experts.

The centre has a natural flow for visitors allowing them to enjoy the exhibition and understand the origins and uniqueness of the Fforest Fawr Geopark, the formation of the waterfalls and the effects of the rocks on the lives of people through history to the present time.

Maximising the existing space in the centre, on a tight budget was central to the project. The Waterfalls Centre is housed in a barn conversion with the space split over two floors. The natural divide of the building’s layout was used to separate the centre’s exhibition. There is a gentle introduction downstairs with the option of going upstairs for a more in-depth experience. The available space has been designed to be multi-purpose with furniture and fittings working as display units or storage, and flat screens that can be used for exhibitions or group presentations. Diagrams and audio have been employed to keep language content to a minimum, allowing everyone, regardless of nationality to enjoy and learn from the experience.
